That’s what we were
Forever laughing with glee.
Nothing could stop us.
Not even a few shallow breaths.
We created and laughed.
That was who we are.
That was what we did.
But it all ended that one snowy morning
When children who were meant to be playing
Were met with a gruesome reality.
The ice shined like the flash of a knife in the light,
And in the next moment the cracks that sounded like crumbling rocks,
Swallowed up my Joker.
The water rippled where she’d fallen,
Waving as if to invite me in.
But my feet were frozen to the ground,
As I stretched out my hand helplessly.

Bad IceShe was pretty fragile to begin with. You wouldn’t know it by looking at her, since she was a giant in every room that was allowed to be in her presence. Sometimes you could even forget she was this size of a ten-year old child. She was cocky, proud, and the most sarcastic person you’d ever lay eyes on. But she had the best sense of humor you’d ever come across, and she was always up for a practical joke. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen her eyes light up at a new suggestion, her mind whirling as she thought up a way to improve my half-assed plan. ElliOz: Forgotten MemoriesThe crash and tinkle of the breaking cup seemed to linger on for hours, rather than the seconds it took to fall apart. The tea spread quickly, staining the carpet, spreading in all directions, almost like a flower, reaching its petals out as far as it can go.
It was the first time Elliot every remembered dropping something. He'd always been good with his hands. A child had to be, when growing up in a mansion full of glass and other fragile objects.

I frowned, trying to drown out all of the heckling and yelling. It was so hard to focus with the noise. I closed my eyes, clenching my fist.

Emma DrabbleThere was emptiness. Gray fog covered my vision every way I looked, giving me the impression that it ran on forever. My legs felt heavy and weak, like I had been walking for days. Exhausted, I fell to the ground, my intention to fall asleep and hopefully wake up somewhere less confusing.

But then a voice interrupted my plans.

"Have you found it yet?"

The voice seemed to be coming from everywhere, bouncing on invisible walls and leaving an echo behind. It made my head hurt.

I looked around for the source of voice, squinting my eyes to try to see through the fog.
